Years Flying Balloons - 6

When you are not flying, what do you enjoy doing?

I have varied interests and try to get in as many experiences as possible. When time allows taking in baseball games is a summertime favorite. We will travel from Chicago to Nashville, Cincinnati to St Louis and Iowa to see games. The Danville Dans is one of my favorites. Time spent with family and friends is a big part of making life great.

Why did you become a pilot?

Ballooning was a sport/hobby I'd been participating in for several years. I love the sport and grandeur of the balloon. Moving from being crew to pilot and being in control of the flight was the next challenge and I have always looked for and needed challenges to keep me engaged.

What do you find is the most challenging about flying a hot air balloon?

Patience is the most challenging aspect of ballooning, regardless if it's just a pleasure flight around home or at an event. Like the spectators we as crew and pilot want to get in the air but there are so many considerations and rarely is it a simply to a flight in. Being patient throughout the process to assure absolute safety and the best experience for everyone is key.

Short description of something interesting that ballooning has allowed you to do?

We, collectively, strive hard to be as prepared for every flight focusing on optimum performance of equipment, skill and condition to provide a lasting and positive memorable experience. This is experience is for everyone involved, crew, passenger, event goer, and the local resident that just happens to see a balloon floating nearby. Everything we do, is for the you.

What do you most want the public to know/understand about hot air balloons and flying them?
