Years Flying Balloons - 26

When you are not flying, what do you enjoy doing?

Playing with my Grandkids, Ambucs ( a charitable organization that helps those with disabilities), and traveling...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel and see the USA and the WORLD!!

Why did you become a pilot?

I've always had a passion for flying objects...from paper airplanes, hot air balloons, fixed wing and rocket-ships!!! We had a balloon event in Danville IL and our family sponsored a balloon! As the years went on, my interest grew, low cost opportunities presented themselves and I was able to achieve a dream of being a pilot. I was blessed to receive my first balloon and my training at low cost or free so I often use my balloon for charity. Ballooning is a family event so it is not unusual that 3 generations of our family is out in the field crewing, even if you are only 1 or 2 years old!! There is a job for everyone.

What do you find is the most challenging about flying a hot air balloon?

For me landing is the trickiest or challenging part of flying.

Short description of something interesting that ballooning has allowed you to do?

Travel, meet new people, teach the next generation!!

What do you most want the public to know/understand about hot air balloons and flying them?

Ballooning is FUN and we talk and practice that!! But, we focus on Safety First! Everyone can be involved in some way. Never stand in front of balloon that is moving toward you!!! Get to the side!!
