When not flying, I enjoy traveling and beach or pool time(not picky as long as there is water and sunshine).
Why did you become a pilot?
I have been flying airplanes for 16 years. I had been fascinated with balloons since I was a small child. My parents took me to many balloon festivals. When I moved to St. Louis, I was able to start crewing for a local pilot and then learned to fly.
What do you find is the most challenging about flying a hot air balloon?
I love the challenge balloon flying brings to aviation. It allows me to use my aviation knowledge in a different capacity. The impact of winds and weather on a balloon adds a unique challenge and no two flight are the same.
Short description of something interesting that ballooning has allowed you to do?
I was able to go on a balloon Safari in Kenya with my husband.
What do you most want the public to know/understand about hot air balloons and flying them?
Pilots are very friendly. I will use any excuse to talk about balloons. If you see us out, please feel free to come say hi!
