Years Flying Balloons - 20

When you are not flying, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife and I also are members of Gateway Tykes on Trykes. We help build and fit specialty tricycles for physically challenged children.

Why did you become a pilot?

I had a friend give me a balloon ride many years ago and the feeling of floating along in the sky was absolutely amazing! I decided right then that I wanted to give that experience to others.

What do you find is the most challenging about flying a hot air balloon?

Short description of something interesting that ballooning has allowed you to do?

Being involved in ballooning has allowed me to meet and become a member of an incredible community of people (balloonists) that help each other in every way they can. My wife often mentions to me how nice and helpful everyone is.

What do you most want the public to know/understand about hot air balloons and flying them?

Riding in a hot air balloon is the most tranquil feeling you can experience. Other than take off and landing, you will have no feeling of motion. You are floating with the breeze in silence except for the occasional sound of the burners.
